Employment First

Employment is a fundamental value and aspiration in American culture. All people, including those with mental health and substance use disorders, gain many benefits from having a job. People are healthier, safer and happiest with meaningful work. They have relationships with co-workers, fewer health issues, and an increased sense of wellbeing.

For individuals with behavioral health issues, BHDDH provides State funds to support employment services offered by licensed providers through our community mental center centers or behavioral health organizations. Our goal is to promote and emphasize integrated, community-based employment and meaningful, integrated day programs that build vocational skills and community connections. This is a priority for all individuals we serve.
