Discrimination is a barrier

Barriers for individuals living with a disability is discrimination.

Remember, disability is not inability and it's not a weakness; it's a sign of a unique strength.

Every day, people with disabilities navigate a world full of barriers—some visible, some invisible—and in doing so, they show resilience, creativity, and courage that inspires us all. Their strength isn’t measured by conforming to society’s standards, but by the ability to adapt, persevere, and shine in their own way.

Inclusion doesn't just mean access—it’s about recognizing and celebrating the unique strengths each person brings. When we shift our perspective, we see disability not as a limitation, rather a reminder that strength comes in many forms. Celebrate everyone's individual strength.

BHDDH Forensic Unit

The Forensic Division is led by BHDDH Deputy Director Dr. Louis Cerbo. BHDDH established a Forensic Division in 2025. This division oversees court-ordered competency evaluations and coordinates treatment for individuals who have been deemed by the court system as not competent to stand trial.

This structure has expanded community-based treatment options for justice-involved individuals, successfully diverting many from costly state hospitalization, resulting in a more accessible, cost-effective, and community-focused model of care.
