Alcohol and Tobacco Compliance Checks

Local law enforcement agencies, in partnership with our seven Regional Prevention Coalitions, conduct alcohol and tobacco retailer compliance checks on an ongoing basis. This involves the utilization of underage decoys who attempt to purchase alcohol or tobacco products to ensure that retail establishments are checking for identification and complying with legal age of sale laws (21+). A “violation” indicates that an establishment illegally sold the corresponding alcohol or tobacco product to a decoy under the age of 21.
