At a CCBHC, you can get support for:

  • Mental health concerns

  • Behavioral health emergencies (24/7 crisis help)

Trained professionals work together as a team to get you or your loved one the right care.

There are many clinics across Rhode Island that can help you:

Any person, any behavioral health challenge.

What happens if I need help in a crisis?

If you or someone you care about is having a mental health or substance use emergency, call 988. You’ll be connected to someone who can help you right away.

They’ll talk with you to understand what’s happening and decide on the best next step. That might include:

  • Scheduling a same-day or next-day appointment at a CCBHC
  • Sending a mobile crisis team to where you are
  • In very serious cases, guiding you to emergency services

For a medical emergency or if someone is in immediate danger, call 911 right away.

What does “mobile crisis response” mean?

It means trained behavioral health professionals can come to you — wherever you are — if you’re having a mental health or substance use emergency.

When you call 988, the mobile crisis team may be sent to:

  • Help calm the situation
  • Assess what’s going on
  • Connect you with the right services

You can call for yourself or for someone else. Support is available 24/7, every day of the year.

Getting Started is Easy

How do I make an appointment?

To make an appointment, visit the website of the CCBHC nearest to you. Many offer walk-in services too. You can also call 988 if you need help finding the right clinic or if you’re dealing with a crisis and need immediate support.

Can I go to a CCBHC if I don’t have insurance?

Yes! CCBHCs serve everyone—even if you don’t have insurance or can’t pay. They welcome people of all ages, including children and youth. If you do have insurance (like Medicaid, HealthSource RI, or through your job), they’ll ask for your information, but you can still get care either way.
